A 1997 Defender, re-engineered.

Lange began as a 1997 Land Rover Defender 110, kept numbers-matching and re-engineered by Helderburg from the chassis up. It is available now because its owner, John, a rancher in Texas, moved up to a D130 High Cap, and a finished Helderburg of this specification rarely comes up ready to drive.

Deep Forest Metallic Green does most of its work outdoors. Near-black under a garage light, it turns clearly green the moment it reaches open sky. Beneath it sits the full Helderburg re-engineering: a performance-tuned turbo diesel paired with a short-shift five-speed manual, an automatic available, and VectorLine road suspension tuned for daily driving. With 3,991 miles, it is barely run in.

It is re-engineered from the chassis up around a Helderburg Performance-Built 300 TDi, a purely mechanical engine with no computer, built to run past 500,000 miles on nothing more than oil changes every 5,000 miles. Parts are plentiful, and if it ever needs us, a Helderburg mechanic comes to the vehicle.
  • Yes. Lange is a 1997 Defender, over 25 years old, so it is exempt from the federal import rule and legal to import, register, and drive in all 50 states. Registration details vary by state. Tell us where you are and we will confirm exactly what your DMV requires.
