The Arete Story

Arete is a Helderburg D110 double cab composed as an exercise in quiet excellence. This commission was designed to feel correct on a countryside estate drive, at a clay shoot, or on a simple run into town, without ever needing to announce itself.

The custom‑mixed, non‑metallic exterior color carries a restrained, slightly military character that reads unmistakably British in person. Wider arches, an external roll cage, and an adventure rack give the truck its stance, while the billet Red Winch, metal‑grille bumper, and carefully chosen lighting details add capability without clutter. Galvanized tailgate hinges and hardware are intentionally left visible for contrast and depth, reinforcing the mechanical honesty of the build.

Inside, Arete shifts from rugged luxury into something closer to a best‑gun room. Dark‑chocolate Scottish leather, tanned to order, is saddle‑stitched, fluted, and subtly perforated, evoking a Holland & Holland or Purdey case more than an automotive interior. Seats, pedal placement, steering‑wheel thickness, shifter length, and console height are all tailored to the intended custodian, so daily driving feels natural, unforced, and comfortable over long distances. German squareweave wool carpeting extends the sense of permanence underfoot.

Arete remains deliberately analog. Needle‑driven gauges, mechanical switchgear, and a naturally self‑centering steering feel keep the driving experience present and engaging. The planned audio system—Focal speakers, Italian amplification, and an analog‑inspired head unit—will be tuned specifically to the cabin so that sound quality matches the visual restraint.
