Owning a Helderburg is the beginning. The Field Club is what comes next.

Every Helderburg commission includes lifetime membership.

Members gather a few times a year for drives, sporting weekends, and the kind of dinners that run late. The Annual Expedition in the Ozarks is the centerpiece. The rest unfolds across South Dakota, Montana, and wherever the calendar takes us next.

No other builder in the custom classic Defender world offers anything like this. The classic Defender brought us together. The people are the reason most members never miss a year.

It started as Rovers in the Woods. A few friends, a few Defenders, the back roads of the Catskill Mountains. It has grown into what it is now without losing what it was.

What Membership Includes

More than a calendar of events. A way of being looked after.

The Field Club is what happens around the truck. Some of it shows. Some of it just happens quietly when you need it.

i.

The Annual Calendar

The Expedition in October. A pheasant drive in late autumn. The English shoot in winter. The River Weekend in summer. Member-only events, hosted personally. Bring a spouse, bring a son or daughter where appropriate, bring the dog when it makes sense.

Service, Anywhere

Helderburg service shops in Connecticut and Arkansas. A mechanic dispatched to your home or office when service is needed. The truck never has to go to a dealership. The single phone number stays the same.

iii.

Vehicle Transport

Members may book our private transport service for personal vehicles. Helderburg's own equipment, our own drivers, your truck or anything else you need moved. Coast to coast, or to wherever the next adventure starts.

iv.

First Look

New colors are previewed to members before they are shown publicly. Limited production runs and special models are offered to members before anyone else. A second or third commission begins with a conversation, not an inquiry.

Haldenmere Access

Members are welcome at Haldenmere by arrangement. Land on the airstrip. Walk the property. Drive a different Helderburg through the Ozarks before you commission your next one. The kind of afternoon you cannot have anywhere else.

A Quiet Network

Members tend to know each other within a season. Introductions happen naturally. The Field Club has produced business partnerships, friendships, and at least one marriage. None of it was planned. All of it was inevitable.

The Private Channel

Members stay in touch year-round through a private channel. Texts. Photos from the road. Recommendations when traveling. When a member is heading somewhere, another member is usually already there. The events are four times a year. The community is every day.

How to Join

Two ways in. Both quiet.

There is no paid membership tier. There never will be. The Field Club exists for Helderburg owners and the small number of prospective owners introduced each year.

You are already in.

Every Helderburg commission includes lifetime Field Club membership. Spouses and partners are welcome. Children come when they are old enough to enjoy the drive. There is no application, no annual fee, no renewal. From the moment the keys are handed over, you are part of it.

A small number, each year.

A small number of prospective members are invited to one event per year as guests. Invitations are extended either by Paul personally or by an existing member. The invitation is not a sales meeting. It is the actual experience.

Before You Reach Out

The questions worth asking.

What people tend to want to know before they take the next step. Honest answers.

Are there annual dues or event fees?
No annual dues. No application fee. No membership renewal. The Annual Expedition in the Ozarks is included for members. Some events that take place on private ranches or estates have pass-through costs for lodging, sporting, or guides, billed at cost and known well in advance. There are no margins or markups on those.
What if I commission a Helderburg but cannot attend events?
Membership is lifetime. There is no attendance requirement. Some members come to every event. Some come to one or two a year. Some have years where they cannot come at all. The membership remains the same. The private channel runs whether you are at the Expedition or not.
Can I bring guests of my own?
Spouses and partners are always welcome. Children when they are old enough to enjoy the drive. For other guests, it depends on the event. The Annual Expedition is the most open. Smaller events with limited capacity are usually members only. The rule we follow is simple: if you would want them there, we probably would too. Ask.
Do I have to drive my Helderburg to events, or can I fly in?
Most members fly in. Helderburg moves the trucks. Our private vehicle transport service can deliver your Helderburg to the Expedition starting point and return it home after. Members who prefer to drive themselves often turn the trip into a longer journey. Either way works. The point is the road and the people you are on it with.
What if my Helderburg needs service while at an event?
Our service team is there. A Helderburg mechanic travels with the trucks at the Annual Expedition. Anything that comes up gets handled on the road. For events outside the Expedition, the same number you would call at home reaches the same team. The truck does not go to a dealership, ever.
How private is the member channel?
The channel is closed to members only. No press, no prospective members, no Helderburg staff outside the small group that runs the Field Club. Members understand that what is shared there stays there. The kind of conversation that happens between people who already trust each other.
Can my adult children become members?
Adult children attend events with members as a matter of course. For full Field Club membership in their own right, they would commission their own Helderburg. We have a few families now where two generations are members through their own trucks. It tends to start with the son or daughter borrowing the keys.
What happens to membership if I sell my Helderburg?
The Field Club is associated with the owner, not the truck. If you sell your Helderburg, your membership remains. The next owner of that truck does not inherit it. They would need to come into the Field Club the same way you did — through their own commission or by invitation. This keeps the community made of people we already know.
Why is the Field Club not open to other classic Defender owners?
It is by design. Membership cannot be purchased. The point of the Field Club is that everyone in it chose the same path for similar reasons. Owners are welcome to bring a Defender-owning friend as a guest at certain events, but the Field Club itself is not a paid program and never will be.
How is the Field Club different from a marque club?
Marque clubs are organised around the vehicle. They are open, broad, and built for the enthusiast community at large. The Field Club is organised around the people who chose a Helderburg — smaller, by design, closer, by design. Members tend to know each other within a season. The Field Club is not a substitute for a marque club. It is something different.
Is the Field Club new?
The Field Club is the formal name. The community itself started years earlier as Rovers in the Woods, with a few friends, a few Defenders, and the back roads of the Catskill Mountains. It became the Field Club as it grew into something more structured, but the way it works has not changed. Members find that the older the relationships get, the more the club starts to feel like the reason they bought the truck.
