From my journal: why I drive a Helderburg

This morning I found myself paging through old journal entries. Some are simple notes, others are memories I never wanted to lose. One in particular stood out—written when we had a 110 Helderburg we named Diego:

Sept 7th, 2021 – 5:32am

Yesterday was one of those rare days that felt suspended in time—the air sharp, the light soft, everything touched with meaning. We drove Diego along a desolate road, windows down, the scent of pine drifting in. Christy leaned close, her hand resting on mine as we laughed about nothing at all.

We played in the cold Atlantic waves before retreating to the warmth of Diego, sunlit and still. We shared lunch as the surf broke against the rocks, then drifted into a nap, lulled by the rhythm of the sea and the quiet idle of the Defender. Simple, yet unforgettable.

That night, when the moon rose silver and full, it cast the Defender in an otherworldly glow. I stopped in the middle of the road to take a photograph of Diego beneath the vastness of the sky. Christy laughed and told me, “hurry up before a car comes,” but we hadn’t seen another car for hours. My worry wasn’t traffic, but the quiet mysteries of the woods. It was the kind of day I wished could stretch on forever.

Looking back at that entry, I realized why I wanted to drive a Helderburg almost exclusively. It isn’t just about the road you travel, but the way it binds you to the moment, to the world, and to the people you love.

I’ve tried to capture that same feeling in a short film that shares why a Helderburg is the ideal adventure vehicle.
