Arrival

Haldenmere sits back from the road. The drive in is long and lined with trees. It separates arrival from departure, the public world from the private one. By the time the house comes into view, most of what you arrived with has quieted.

Haldenmere is my home and the design house both. A working estate in the Ozarks of Arkansas, forty minutes south of Branson. It is not arranged to be shown. It is lived in. The animals keep their own schedule. The light decides when the day ends. People are welcome here when there is a reason to be, and the reason is a Helderburg.

What happens here is not a tour. It is a conversation, unhurried, between people who already understand why a thing should be made well.

The House

No showroom. No one between us.

Every Helderburg is drawn here before it is built in England. There is no showroom, and there is no one between us. You deal with me, the person who designs the Helderburg you are considering.

Why Here

The roads do the explaining.

A Helderburg is understood through the wheel, not the brochure. The roads around Haldenmere climb and fall and turn the way Ozark roads do, and they are where a Helderburg answers the only question worth asking. Not how fast. How composed.

Power is not the point. Composure is. The suspension holds the body flat through a turn a classic Defender would lean through. The widening is done at the chassis, not with spacers, so the stance is engineered rather than bolted on. You feel it in the first mile, and you stop comparing it to anything else.

This is what you choose when you could drive anything else.

The Visit

There is no program. You come, we talk, you drive. What happens after that depends on the day and the conversation.

One request. Haldenmere is a working estate with its own animals, and they set the terms here, not me. For their sake, I ask that you leave dogs at home.

How is a visit arranged?
By request. Send a note or call. Visits are by appointment and reserved for those seriously considering a commission. I, or someone close to the work, will respond directly.

Will I drive a Helderburg?
A Helderburg is here, and time on the roads is part of a serious visit. There is no substitute for it. The vehicle is understood through the wheel.
Do I need to have commissioned already?
No. Come if you are considering one. Owning a Helderburg is not a requirement to understand the work.
May I bring my family?
Yes. Your family is welcome. Haldenmere is my home, so plan for a small group rather than a large party.
Can I bring my dog?
I ask that dogs stay home. Haldenmere is a working estate with its own animals, and their routine comes first.
How long should I plan for?
It is unhurried. Plan for that, and we will see where the day goes.
