There are moments in a young man’s life that stay with him long before he understands why they matter.
For me, it was a salvage yard at the edge of town. I wandered its rows every weekend, studying how time reveals the truth of a vehicle and how genuine craftsmanship continues to speak even when the world is no longer listening.
One morning, something uncommon appeared
a classic Rolls-Royce carrying a small badge that read Bespoke built for Damson.
Barely marked. Simply pausing between stories.

Its finish held a depth I had never seen before.
In the slight shade, it read as a cool, effortless black, quiet, confident, composed.
Only under direct, insistent sunlight did a trace of plum surface, subtle as a breath.
Not flamboyant. Not trying to be noticed.
It felt like a private detail meant for those who appreciate such things.
I sat inside for a long while, taking in the textures, the weight of the controls, the warmth of the wheel.
As I sat and looked out over the bonnet something unspoken stirred, a promise without words.
One day, I would create something in that color.
