To protect and preserve the timeless craftsmanship of your Helderburg Defender, certain care routines and products are non-negotiable. Whether it’s a routine oil change or a full paint treatment, using the correct tools and materials is essential to maintaining your vehicle’s character and performance.

Below is a complete list of approved and recommended products—curated by Paul himself—to ensure your Defender is treated as it should be.

Engine Oil & Filter – What You Must Do

Your Helderburg’s engine requires Shell Rotella T4 15w/40 Heavy Duty Diesel Truck Oil – NON-Synthetic.
Do not use synthetic oil. Do not add oil additives. These can compromise the integrity of a classic diesel engine.

Important:
You must order and supply the oil and filter yourself.
Never allow a mechanic or shop to provide their own oil or filter.

Even if someone else is performing your oil change, bring these with you to ensure proper care.

Detailing & Paint Care – Required Products

Your Helderburg’s finish has been treated to endure—but only if it’s maintained with the right materials. Below is an approved list of all detailing products.
These are the exact items Paul uses on his personal Defenders. Order them and use only these—or require your detailer to do so.

Washing Supplies

Paint Protection, Polish & Finish

Tires, Trim, Leather & Glass

Water Rinse & Rust Touch-Up

Note: Surface rust on components like the rear bumper, center wheel hubs, or bolts is entirely normal and part of the character of a classic Defender. It poses no risk. A quick spray of WD-40 makes it disappear.
